FM Lieberman: Set Iranian Timetable for Dialogue

Written by: Aaron Katsman | May 5, 2009

Not wanting to let the Iranians play the UN,US, and Europe buy paying lip service to dialogue while continuing to build their nuclear program, Israeli FM Avigdor Lieberman, said that no more than 3 months should be allowed for diplomacy.

According to ynet:“It is important that the dialogue with Iran be limited, and if after three months it will become clear that the Iranians stalling and are not shelving their nuclear program, the international community will be required to take practical measures against them,” Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman told Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi during their meeting in Rome Tuesday.

During the meeting, which ran over an hour, Lieberman asked that Berlusconi convince Russia to sever its ties with Hamas and Hizbullah, “who are terror organizations that act against the West’s allies in the Middle East, including Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.”

Once again it seems that Lieberman is making sense.

Hillary Clinton Sells Out Israel: Forgets Her Mother in Laws’ Golden Rule

Written by: Aaron Katsman | April 24, 2009

Well here we have Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama tightening the screws on Israel, linking support for a hard line on Iran to Israeli progress with the Palestinians. She says without progress on the Palestinian negotiations, the world would stop supporting containing the Iranian Nuclear program.

According to the Jpost: “For Israel to get the kind of strong support it is looking for vis-a-vis Iran, it can’t stay on the sidelines with respect to the Palestinians and the peace efforts. They go hand in hand,” Clinton told the House of Representatives.”

What drivel. If she hasn’t noticed, Iran is a problem for the west, not just Israel. Huge demographic changes in Europe, Asia, and more and more in the US, has fundamentalist Islam on the move. Wake up America but fundamentalist Islam doesn’t like your culture.

Wasn’t it former President Bill Clinton who used to say that his mother aways told him to do what’s right for Israel, and he will be blessed.

Well I guess Hillary didn’t listen to her mother in law.

US Defense Sec’y Gates: Israeli’s Won’t Stop Iran Nuclear Plans

Written by: Aaron Katsman | April 16, 2009

So what’s your solution, Mr. Secretary, more sanctions? Well that hasn’t gotten the world very far, has it? Haven’t sanctions been imposed and all the while the Iranians continue to build their nuclear program?

It appears that US Defense Sec’y Robert Gates is the latest in a long line of Obama administration officials warning Israel not to use a military strike against Iran to delay their nuclear program, which will threaten Israel’s very existence.

According to Ynet: “US Defense Secretary Robert Gates warned this week that an Israeli attack on Iran would have dangerous consequences, and claimed that Tehran’s acquisition of a nuclear bomb can be prevented only if “Iranians themselves decide it’s too costly,” the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday. Speaking to students at Marines Corps University in Quantico, Virginia, Gates said that while an Israeli strike would likely delay the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program one to three years, it would also “cement their (Iranians) determination to have a nuclear program, and also build into the whole country an undying hatred of whoever hits them.”

First of all, even a delay would benefit Israel, and secondly, what is your solution. You have been asleep at the wheel for years as Iran continues to thumb their nose at UN sanctions , and have progressed beyond the stage of enriching uranium. Your policy has been a failure. Why does the Obama administration continue to threaten Israel, an ally, while pander to Iran, the enemy?

Are You Willing to Pay More For Alternative Energy?

Written by: Aaron Katsman | December 5, 2008

This post has been submitted by I’m Right You’re Wrong:

The Israeli Ministry of Finance should be applauded for sticking to its guns and wanting an energy policy that generates revenues and not dishes out subsidies.

It’s not that I have anything against alternative energies, after all I support the ultimate alternative energy, Nuclear power. It’s just that if these technologies are so wonderful why do they cost more and demand government subsidies to get them up and running? If they were so good couldn’t the private sector fund these projects entirely and make all the profits? Oh profits, you mean there aren’t any?

According to the report in Globes, the Ministry of National Infrastructures director general Hezi Kugler spoke at a conference and said: “The Ministry of Finance wants us to stop and assess the economic gain that alternative energies are likely to generate. Surveys in other places show that the public is willing to pay 20-30% more for alternative energy. We can supply energy from the resource that we have here (the sun) and increase our energy security. These are the right considerations. Unfortunately, the Ministry of Finance is doing everything it can to stop this going before the cabinet because they know there won’t be a single minister who will vote against it.”

Clearly the Finance Ministry is unreasonable in wanting to ‘assess the economic gain that alternative energies are likely to generate.’  Mr. Kugler, give me a break. First of all, you tell me who would be happy to pay an extra 20-30% for their energy? I wouldn’t be happy to part with that money, and I don’t know many others who would be doing cartwheels to pay a lot more either. Second, do you actually have the nerve to see it as being unreasonable that the Ministry of Finance wants to see if there will be any actual economic benefit from this whole project?

The Finance Ministry deserves a lot of credit on this issue in protecting the Israeli taxpayer from being burned by the alternative energy hype.
