With a trend emerging in the US where more and more states are beginning to enforce laws against using mobile telephones while driving, Motorola Israel (MOT) has launched the new Smart-Rider car phone. According to an article in Globes: “One of the major improvements in the Smart Rider, besides its design and the size of its screen, is its ability to transfer calls made to the driver’s mobile telephone to the car-phone without the driver having to disconnect the original call. This ability is made possible by the Bluetooth standard, which enables the Smart Rider to accept calls transparently without the user having to do anything except activate the car-phone.”
This will clearly placate those who are pushing to enact new laws against using mobile phones while driving. The new phone was launched by Israeli cellular giant Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL).
While Motorola has struggled recently, and their cellular division has been put up on the auction block, this launch may help them turn the corner.
