How do You Say Chutzpah in French? The Answer: Sarkozy

Written by: Aaron Katsman | June 30, 2009

It’s been a good 22 years since I took French classes, and I was trying to remember the French word that best described the word’ Chutzpah’. Then I heard the news and the word became clear. The word is  Sarkozy.

Who does this guy think he is? According to a Ynet article: “Channel 2 reported Monday that during Netanyahu’s meeting with Sarkozy in Paris the latter said the prime minister should appoint Opposition chairwoman Tzipi Livni in Lieberman’s place. “With her and (Defense Minister Ehud) Barak you can make history”, he was quoted as saying. “I have always accepted Israeli foreign ministers, and I loved to have Tzipi Livni here at the Elysee, but with (Lieberman) I can’t,” he was reported as saying with a wave of his hand.”

Pardoner Mois! We don’t tell you how to run your foreign affairs so what gives you the right to tell Israel how to conduct domestic politics?

The reporting of this despicable act was met with a brilliant response from PM Avigdor Lieberman.  ” Speaking to Ynet, the official said “France has meddled in another democracy’s affairs. This is intolerable. We don’t plan on asking for clarifications from Paris, but rather intend to ignore the matter entirely. I am certain that if you ask Israel’s citizens who they want in charge of appointing their foreign minister, the answer will not be the French.”

Amen.

Netanyahu to Syria: The Golan is Ours

Written by: Aaron Katsman | May 10, 2009

In an attempt at cutting off any thought of an Israeli withdrawal of the Golan Heights as part of any peace deal with Syria, PM Benjamin Netanyahu, said that the Golan Heights will remain in Israeli control.

According to Ynet: “Netanyahu’s remark clarifies that the Turkish-mediated talks held between Damascus and the Ehud Olmert government have been frozen and would likely remain that way. The Syrians are demanding an Israeli declaration on the Jewish state’s willingness to withdraw from the Golan Heights as the basis for any continued dialogue.

The prime minister has said in closed forums that he is ready to hold negotiations with Syria, without preconditions. Before the Knesset elections in February, Netanyahu visited the Golan and planted a tree there as a symbol of Israel’s sovereignty over the area.”

Let’s hope that Netanyahu can stay strong cause as he gets set to meet Prez. Obama, the pressure is sure to mount.

AIPAC Sells Out Israel and Makes Election Irrelevant

Written by: Aaron Katsman | May 5, 2009

So who cares if Israel is a democratic state, which just held elections and voted for a Prime Minister? Apparently for the hotshots at AIPAC, the fact that a wide majority of Israeli’s voted for the right wing is irrelevant, and these delegates are going to decide the future of Israel. There is no explicable reason why AIPAC delegates are going to lobby congressmen all over Washington to sign a letter, supporting a 2 state solution with the Palestinians. Something that newly elected PM Netanyahu opposes.

No offense, but who the hell is AIPAC to make this decision? It’s like sticking a knife into the back of the Israeli public. Here is a news alert: Maybe a 2 state solution would be bad for Israel!

Is the reason for this abuse of power to cozy up to President Obama, who clearly has an agenda that is questionable at best vis-a-vis Israel.

According to the Jpost: The pro-Israel advocacy group’s annual conference culminates each year with a mass lobbying effort, in which the thousands of participants from across the United States spread out across Capitol Hill for meetings with their respective members of Congress and encourage them to endorse policies and positions that AIPAC believes will advance the American-Israeli interest.

In this year’s lobbying effort, to take place on Tuesday, the AIPAC thousands will be asking their congressmen to sign on to a letter addressed to Obama that explicitly posits the need for a “viable Palestinian state.”

A ‘viable Palestinian State’…. hello?? The PA won’t acknowledge that Israel is a Jewish state. While you drive home to your palace in New Rochelle feeling good that you are doing good by the Palestinians and ending the injustice that Israel has done to them, those of us who live in Israel, will be dodging missiles, drive-by shooting and other types of terror.

Thanks for selling us out, AIPAC.

FM Lieberman: Set Iranian Timetable for Dialogue

Written by: Aaron Katsman | May 5, 2009

Not wanting to let the Iranians play the UN,US, and Europe buy paying lip service to dialogue while continuing to build their nuclear program, Israeli FM Avigdor Lieberman, said that no more than 3 months should be allowed for diplomacy.

According to ynet:“It is important that the dialogue with Iran be limited, and if after three months it will become clear that the Iranians stalling and are not shelving their nuclear program, the international community will be required to take practical measures against them,” Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman told Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi during their meeting in Rome Tuesday.

During the meeting, which ran over an hour, Lieberman asked that Berlusconi convince Russia to sever its ties with Hamas and Hizbullah, “who are terror organizations that act against the West’s allies in the Middle East, including Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.”

Once again it seems that Lieberman is making sense.
