Today is Israel independence day, the 61st for the Jewish state of Israel. Looking back it’s just incredible to see how much has been accomplished in just 61 years. A thriving economy, democracy, and a leader in technology all over the world. let’s hope that the next 61 years are even better, and without war.

A 49 year old man who just returned form a trip to Mexico is the 2nd confirmed case of pig flu in Israel.
PM Netanyahu called for a special meeting to see how Israeli health ffciails should deal with the diesease. According to Ynet: “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a special meeting in his office Tuesday evening regarding the looming threat of swine flu spreading in Israel.
Netanyahu was said to have the Defense Ministry take point on the matter, but eventually tasked the Health Ministry with ensuring the nation’s readiness in case of an outbreak.
A regional conference on the perils of the swine flu pandemic is expected to be held on Thursday, with delegates from Israel, Egypt and the Palestinian Authority in attendance; although Cairo has yet to confirm its delegation to the meeting.
Earlier, foreign and health ministries’ officials met with various government representatives on the matter. They were briefed on the origin of the H1N2 virus and were told that so far, the only confirmed deaths form swine flu were found in Mexico.
The problem, they were told, is the fact that the flu in undetectable while the virus is still in the incubation stages, and therefore the dangers is that Israelis who are unaware of being infected, will return to Israel in the next few days.
The Foreign Ministry is said to be making every effort to locate any Israelis who may have been infected before the leave Mexico. The ministry’s situation room is currently in contact with the World Health Organization and various health bureaus worldwide.”

Today is a sad day for all Israeli citizens. It’s a day that the whole country stops to pay tribute and honor the memory of fallen Israeli soldiers. No other country in the world shows the respect to war dead that Israel does. The day is accompanied by 2 sirens, one at night and one in the morning, where every citizen stops and stands in complete silence to honor those that fell fighting for Israel’s very survival.
According to Globes: “
The 133 members of the security forces who fell in the past year brought the total number of fallen in Israel’s wars to 22,570 members of the security forces, including the IDF, Israel Police, Border Police, Israel Prison Service, Israel Security Agency, the Mossad, and the Jewish Brigade of World War II.”
May their memories be blessed, and their families no of no more sorrow.

While climate change may be a hoax, anti-semitism is alive and well. Even, or more appropriately, especially on college campuses throughout the US. Case in point the latest event at NYU. A student organized an event about climate change, only fool school officials and start marketing an event about Israeli apartheid against the poor Palestinian people.
According to Ynet: “An anti-Israel student event was planned, and then canceled Monday, at New York University (NYU). The student, who has asked to hold an event unrelated to Israel, was actually planning an event to explore Israeli “brutality” against the Palestinians.
After receiving permission to host an event at NYU on May 4, based on a proposal for a forum on climate change, the student responsible then hung flyers for a conference on “The Hidden History of Zionism: The Road to Gaza’s Killing Fields,” to be hosted by the International Socialist Organization, an anti-war Marxist group.
“The recent assault on Gaza by the Israeli military and the continuing economic blockade of the region has shocked millions of people around the world,” read the flyer, which featured a picture of a bloody Gazan child from Israel’s Operation Cast Lead against Hamas.”
I guess that climate change and ‘Israeli apartheid against Palestinians’ are similar; neither is based on much of anything factual.
