Israeli Election Alert: Netanyahu Says to Topple Hamas

Commenting on the recent wave of Hamas missile attacks on southern Israel, something that was to have stopped with the recent cease-fire, PM wannabe Benjamin Netanyahu came out and said that he supports an overthrow of the Hamas regime.

The Jpost reports: ” Kadima leader] Tzipi Livni and the people of Kadima scoffed at the predictions regarding
rocket
fire. A

government
led by me will overthrow the
Hamas rule in Gaza and bring about a cessation of rocket fire,” Netanyahu said during a tour of Ashkelon following the first Grad
rocket
attack since the conclusion of Operation Cast Lead some two weeks ago.
“The policy of blindness followed in the past years has brought us to this situation,” Netanyahu continued. “Residents can no longer count on miracles and Kadima policy.”

Netanyahu becomes the first Israeli leader to openly call for the overthrow of Hamas. Clearly this is a veer to the right to try and capture Likud voters that are gravitating toward Avigdor Lieberman and his Israel Beiteinu party, which is surging in the polls.

Netanyahu has come under criticism from his own party for employing a strategy of trying to run out teh clock, in order to become the next PM. Critics claim that if he were more aggressive in his attacks, his Likud party would win another 50-10 seats in the Knesset.
